Biomed Preventative Maintenance Mechanic
General Summary
This position performs preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance and limited repairs on Beaumont Health medical equipment and performs general maintenance activities. Maintains materials, supplies and equipment to complete these tasks. Adheres to schedules, inspections and investigates problems and performs assigned repairs. Must be willing and able to travel locally to assist in team efforts to complete maintenance activities health system-wide.
Essential Duties
Performs scheduled Maintenance tasks and limited repairs on Beaumont Health Medical Equipment.
Follows documented operational procedures for maintenance and repairs on Medical equipment.
Maintains parts, supplies and tool inventories as required for maintenance and repairs of BH Medical Equipment.
Gathers information on, and generates paperwork for, repairs beyond the scope of job requirements.
Completes daily activity paperwork including recording time and material expenditures and work orders in the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
Investigates problems on BHS's Medical equipment so as to quickly ascertain whether problem found can be handled during the preventive maintenance activity or to create a Corrective Maintenance (CM) work request.
Performs inspection, testing and maintenance of medical equipment. This would include, but not limited to infusion pumps, physiological monitors, fluid warmer, blanket warmers, warm air units and other various medical equipment.
Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment.
Uses tools and equipment appropriately
Standard Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Strong mechanical/maintenance background.
Valid Michigan Driver's license with acceptable record.
Experience in a healthcare facility (Preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required in order to communicate with vendors, guests, hospital staff, management and co-workers.
The job requires significant autonomous decision-making. Assignments are received in the form of results expected but have considerable freedom to decide on procedures to be followed.
This job may require working indoors and outdoors in a range of temperatures that may vary from hot to cold. Bending, heavy lifting, twisting and standing for long hours may be required.
The typical work environment involves potentially high risks with exposure to potentially dangerous situations that require adherence to prescribed safety policies, procedures and precautions.
The work location for this position will rotate with responsibility at each of the sites.
