Job Flexibility o Hybrid Position:
The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work-based business needs.
Overview The primary responsibility is to design, develop, test, apply and release to production, axle and suspension products for trailer systems, inclusive of plant and customer supportThis person will interface with customers, suppliers, test labs, production manufacturing facilities, and several internal cross-functional engineering groups (procurement, program management, brakes, vehicle dynamics, analytical mechanics, experimental mechanics, materials, etc.
).
Job Responsibilities o Perform engineering analysis necessary for the product design and development, application, and testing of axle/suspension components and systemsThis will include the use of CAD (Creo Parametric) and FEA (Creo Simulate and/or Ansys Workbench).
o Manage all aspects of engineering products according to customer requirements with focus on coordinating project timing, costs, test plans and prototype builds, following Meritor product development and Design Review process.
o Work with designers to release detailed drawing packages and documentation to support the products.
o Provide guidance and mentoring for less experienced engineering staff.
o Identify, verify, and implement solutions to warranty or quality problems that affect product performance.
o Establish good working relationships with team members, outside suppliers, customers, and various internal groups.
QUALIFICATIONSo Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
Master's Degree preferred.
o Minimum of 4 years of full time direct, practical experience.
o Extremely good communication skills of all types are a must.
o Well versed with all MS Office software.
o Understanding of static analysis, fatigue analysis and familiar with fundamentals of dynamic and kinematic studies.
o Desirable experience with trailer products and systems like axles and suspension integrationo Design experience with structural components.
o Understanding of manufacturing processes (Sheetmetal, weldments, forgings, castings, machining, etc)o International and domestic travel required, as needed, up to 10%.
Bonus Potential This position is eligible for Cummins-Meritor's Incentive Compensation Plan, which offers payouts based on company performance.
