Application Engineer

The Applications Engineer will interface directly with our customers.
The role works as part of a team of other Applications Engineers and Account Managers who work closely with Sensata's global engineering, sales, and other cross-functional disciplines.
General Responsibilities oUtilizes knowledge of engineering principles & practices in the design, development, analysis and release of products throughout the product life cycle oAct as key customer interface with an emphasis on technical problem solving.
Support existing customers on new product development projects under development oCommunicate business and technical information between the customer and Sensata oDevelop and maintain an technical understanding of Sensata's products and competitor product offerings oKey participant in failure analysis examinations and prepare Failure Analysis Reports of findings oEnsure projects meet customer requirements and quality standards oCreates design failure modes and effects analysis oPerform engineering analyses.
Review product specifications and utilize computer aided engineering applications to apply conditions, replicate performance, and evaluate the manufacturability of products oHelp develop and refine 'standard' product configurations that capitalize on the company's strengths and products.
Provide onsite technical assistance to the sales team at industry trade shows and customer demonstrations oNegotiate technical specifications oRespond to requests for proposals and assist in the preparation of quotations for standard and custom products oEstablish strong relationships with existing customer base at all levels; understand their business strategy and customer applications oKnowledge of basic electrical circuits, microelectronic assembly, statistical methods, process control fundamentals and product test processes oFamiliarity with manufacturing methods - welding, brazing, soldering, adhesive bonding, machining, stamping, molding and forming.
Basic knowledge of a core manufacturing processes (Calibration, Final Function Transfer, leak testing, welding/soldering, adhesive and gel dispensing) oEstablish and maintain customer engineering relations Experience / Qualifications oA university degree required (i.
e.
Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
oMust be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands oStrong communication skills; oral, written and presentation oStrong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results oStrong personal and professional ethical values and integrity oHolds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards oProficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) oStrong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers Additional Job Description Generate overall BMS, Contactor and IMD product knowledge and hands-on integration know how working with customers that have initiated design in step (Integration support can be provided on-site and remotely in relevant time zone) Provide Global support via support tickets and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through efficient support Technical Support to North American sales teams enabling them to win new business (NBO) Create support articles/quick guides, that will serve customers that prefer self-service through CES Helpdesk Support Product Specialists with input to changes/customizations/bug fixes for issues, that cannot be solved in configuration or known workarounds Provide input to manuals and application notes - and even take full responsibility for manual releases to product upgrades.
