Mission of the Position:
The Base Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of embedded software for driveline electronic control systems and components in C, python programming language. Working from broad specifications, not only performs, but is responsible for guiding engineering activities. Independently plans, designs and carries out work assignments and often serves as a technical authority. As an entry level engineer, the engineer will work independently to perform a variety of basic engineering assignments with varied responsibility but may require some guidance and direction from a senior engineer/mentor or manager. As an Intermediate level engineer, the engineer will work independently with limited supervision to evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using knowledge and judgement to make adaptations and modifications. As a Senior Engineer, the engineer will independently perform a wide variety of complex/advanced engineering work to include planning, designing, and carrying out work assignments, often serving as a technical authority of the department with little to no supervision. The engineer will mentor and guide less experienced team members. Key Responsibilities Designs and develops low level driver software including:
Programming in C and assembly language for low level drivers, such as boot loaders, A/D drivers, CAN communications, diagnostics, etc. hardware/software integration, memory usage analysis, stack usage analysis, timing analysis and throughput analysis. Develops software requirements specifications and software functional specifications, including:
performing requirement analysis, software architecture design and optimization, data structure design, and low level software requirement development. Performs coding, unit testing, debugging and modifying of complex embedded systems software to ensure project objectives and schedules are met. Coordinates and participates in software design reviews and code reviews. Documents and archives software program releases in accordance with company software development process. Works closely with a team of other highly skilled engineering professionals to solve cross functional design issues and deliver top quality products to the end user. Provides technical expertise on embedded software to multiple project teams, assists in the resolution of product based technical issues. Customers and Business Interfaces:

Qualifications:
Entry, intermediate & senior level positions available on the team - level determined based on candidate experience and expertise in the required software and tools. Bachelor of Science in engineering required, major in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred. Masters degree preferred. Entry 0 - 2 years of automotive embedded systems software development and/or software engineering required (co-op or internship experience may suffice). Basic knowledge in software development languages; C, python required. Intermediate 3 - 5 years of automotive embedded systems software development and/or software engineering required (co-op or internship experience may suffice) 3 - 5 years of experience in software development languages; C, python required 5
years of experience with Vector tools (CANape, CANalyzer) preferred Experience with 16 and/or 32 bit microcontrollers required Senior Minimum of 5 years of automotive embedded systems software development and/or software engineering required. 5

Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Software DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
